Literature Text

دیدن مار خوشبختیه / شنیدن او هم بختیه
اما هرفشو نگران باشی / چو نیش مار بد بختیه

Didan-e mār khoushbakhtieh / shenidan-e u ham bakhtieh
amā harfeshou negarān bāshi / chu nish-e mār badbakhtieh

‘Tis good fortune to see a snake
It’s also good to hear it shake
But of its words fresh caution take
The serpent’s sting bad fortune makes

Ver una culebra es buena fortuna
Es igual al escucharla
Pero ten cuidado con sus palabras
Su aguijón se hace mala fortuna
I'm happy that I was able to make the English translation rhyme.

[edit] 31May2015: finally translated it to Spanish.  I hope it works.
por fin he traducido este al español.  Espero que este correcto.

I should probably mention that there is a saying or superstition in Persian that it is good luck to see a snake.  Growing up in California it was also good to hear a rattlesnake (before it bit you of course).

Deob decir que en pérsico decen que es buena fortuna al ver una serpiente.  En mi niñez en California también era bueno a escuchar una (antes de que podía picarte, claro).
